Christie Has A Strategy To Beat Clinton

If any potential 2016 presidential nominee comes across as having swagger, it would be Republican Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey. There isn't any question that he speaks his mind and stands up for himself.

Christie spoke to conservative radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt to discuss his chances of running for the 2016 presidential Republican nomination. They also discussed Christie's chances of beating Hillary Clinton.

Christie gave a straightforward response saying, “If I run, I will beat her. I was reelected in that state (New Jersey) less than a year and a half ago with 61 percent of the vote, 51 percent of the Hispanic vote, 22% percent of the African-American vote and 56 percent of the female vote. Those are the type of numbers we’re going to have to run up across the country to be able to have the type of sweeping victory you want to have to maintain a Republican House and Senate, and have a Republican president."

Christie implied he has an electoral vote strategy and said he will be campaigning in swing states such as Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, New Mexico and Colorado--these are states that were won by President Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012.

Earlier this week, Christie discussed Social Security reform while speaking in New Hampshire. He proposed raising the retirement age from 67 to 69 years old and making cuts to entitlement programs. Christie states that reform is critical to maintaining the program as he warned “Every other national priority will be sacrificed, our economic growth will grind to a complete halt and our national security will be put at even graver risk."

If Christie does launch a presidential campaign, he will have an uphill battle since recent polls show him tied in eighth place for receiving the most support from Republican voters.
