Carson Urges Christians To Fight For Their Religious Freedom

On Saturday, GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson spoke at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in Oklahoma City. There he argued that conservatives should remain steadfast whenever the government challenges their religious liberties. He said “Don’t let the secular progressives drive God out of our lives. We have to stop letting them bully us. ‘We back down too easily. It’s an important part of who we are."

He also stated that the government was never meant to have control over what people believe, saying, “The fact of the matter is that I believe our founders set up a system that wasn’t supposed to cater to a political class. It was supposed to cater to the people. We’ve gotten everything confused. We’ve got to stop making everything into a political issue. Our unity is through our strength.” Carson then went on to address energy divisions and the Benghazi, Libya terrorist attack by stating “This country has so much energy. It is unbelievable what God has blessed us with. Developing our energy, our fossil fuels, does not have to be at odds with people who want green energy."

In addition, he added “Every issue is a pro-American or an anti-American issue. We have never left our people stranded and not tried to rescue them. We don’t do that, that’s not America.” Moreover, Carson declared that disunion in America was the result of special interests and outside money, so he instructed politicians to, “Sever ties with special interest groups. I personally don’t have ties with any of those people. And I’m not going to develop any of them, either.”
