'Twin Peaks' Actress Passes Away at 52; The Star Turned Her Back On Hollywood Years Ago

Pamela Gidley, former star of popular 80's television show 'Twin Peaks', passed away in her home in Seabrook, New Hampshire on April 16. The actress, once crowned the 'Most Beautiful Girl in the World' modeling competition at the age of 19, had a promising career, but without warning she quit acting and left Hollywood.

Since her death, details about what she's been doing all these years have leaked, hinting that the star sacrificed her career for family.

Gidley was born in Massachusetts and raised in New Hampshire, but she longed for the spotlight. She was bitten by the show business bug young, winning 'New England's Little Miss Lovely' pageant at the age of four. By the age of 15, she had been featured in many magazines, including on the cover of Seventeen Magazine several times.

Her career took off. In 1985, she was crowned 'Most Beautiful Girl in the World' in Sydney, Australia. She began studying acting at the New York Academy of Dramatic Art, and eventually moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue a career in film.

In 1986, Gidley landed a role in the film 'Thrashin' along-side Josh Brolin. She went on to appear in several other films, including 'Dudes' and 'The Blue Iguana', before landing the role of Theresa Banks in the 1992 prequel 'Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me'.

She went on to appear in a number of other films, including 'Freefall', 'Kiss & Tell', and 'Mafia!'. She also had a number of roles on popular television shows, such as 'MacGyver', 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation' and 'The Closer'.

From 1995 to 1996, she played the female lead in the television show 'Strange Luck', and from 1997 through 2000 she had a recurring role in 'The Pretender'.

Suddenly, Gidley dropped out of sight. Her last role was in 'Twin Peaks: The Missing Pieces' in 2014. She moved to a tiny town in costal New Hampshire, reportedly to care for her brother. The nature of her brother's situation and what Gidley was doing for him have never been made public, but from that point on, after a successful 30-year career, the star hid from the spotlight.

Gidley's family has not released any details about the star's death. She is survived by her mother, Phyllis, her brothers, nieces and nephews.

Her former co-stars took to social media to express their grief.

"My dear Whammy....there are no words. My heart is broken into pieces," wrote fellow 'Twin Peaks' alum Sherilynn Fenn. "You will always be my best friend, soul sister & confident...... always & forever."

Ray Wise of 'Twin Peaks' tweeted, "Good-bye sweet Pamela! You'll always be in my heart!"

"My co-star in “Thrashin” and my girlfriend twice in a lifetime," Josh Brolin wrote on Instagram with a picture of Gidley. "Amazing and innocent memories of her: a spitfire, and a truly funny person she was. I remember is being in bed (I was 17) and hearing the radio come on saying that the Challenger had just exploded. These milestones in your life: amazing people to grace us with their spirit, their presence. She will have forever affected mine. Thank you for the gift of you, Pam. Rest In Peace beautiful girl."
