Trump's Life Went Downhill After He Announced He Was Running for President, Says Son

Eric Trump, son of President Donald Trump, says that his father's life isn't as glamorous as it might look. The middle Trump son gave an interview to Weschester Magazine to share about h ow the family has had to deal with things since his father first launched his presidential campaign. Even the youngest members are affected, he says.

Eric says that as part of the extended Trump family, his father's decision to get into politics has affected all of them. Even his younger half-sister, 24-year-old Tiffany Trump, and his youngest half-brother, 12-year-old Barron Trump, have not been exempt from becoming a target for hate.

According to Eric, Mr. Trump's 'life became exponentially worse the minute he decided to run for president'.

"He didn't need to do this, but he was immensely frustrated with where the country was going," Eric added.

The 24-year-old says that the Trump family has been repeatedly abused for this by the media. "Every day, you get abused by somebody... and the next thing you know, you're being parodied on 'Saturday Night Live.' It comes with the territory. We stood center stage with my father during the campaign and beyond."

SNL has featured skits with Alex Moffatt portraying Eric as mentally challenged. Mikey Day portrayed Eric's older brother, Don Jr., as though he were Eric's keeper. Day also portrayed Don Jr. as though he were lying and covering up for President Trump’s violation of the emoluments clause.

Eric notes that going after himself, Don Jr. and even Ivanka Trump, who is an aide in her father’s administration, is fair game when it comes to public scrutiny. He says it's not fair that the youngest Trumps are subjected to the same harsh treatment.

"'We are adults; we've developed a bit of an armor... but Barron and Tiffany should be 100 percent off-limits."

Tiffany Trump, who is attending law school at Georgetown University, occasionally posts photos of visits with her family on Instagram, or shows up at big events to support her father. Other than that, she's just a student and fashion fan who stays out of politics.

Barron, being a pre-teen, should never be criticized based on his family's involvement with politics, yet he is. He's been mocked by Trump critics, with people suggesting he is mentally challenged to people suggesting he'll grow up to be a serial killer.

Eric has mainly attempted to stay under the radar. He was very active in his father’s campaign, and he and Don Jr. have taken over running his father’s business while Trump is in office, but Eric and his wife, Lara have retreated to upstate New York and are mainly keeping quiet in the face of family scandals. Donald Trump Sr. has been accused of two affairs, and Don Jr. is also accused of having an affair and is facing a divorce.

Eric will take a more active role again in his father's re-election campaign, but he remembers fondly the days his family were not constantly under a microscope. "There would be far fewer headaches if it weren’t for politics," Eric admitted in the interview. However, he adds that it's worth it 'when you know you’re in it for the right reasons'.
