Meghan McCain Blows Up at Joy Behar on 'The View', Says "You Deserve Trump"

After Speaker of the House Paul Ryan surprised the nation by announcing that he is retiring when his term is up in January, the topic was brought up on the ABC morning talk show, 'The View'. The liberal ladies on the panel seemed pleased about the announcement, and members of the audience even applauded.

Lone conservative Meghan McCain, a long-time fan of Ryan, said people who want to see classic conservatives like him out of Washington 'deserve Trump'.

McCain says she was surprised by how many members of the audience were clapping at the announcement that Ryan was stepping down.

“He was one of the most powerful congressmen between 2009 and 2016, before Trumpism sort of completely took over. He was a really classic conservative, and this party is the party of Trump now. People like me who are old-school conservatives, we’re really on our way out — and it makes me really sad," she lamented.

She added that her husband told her that '[Ryan] committed the worst sin — he was serious, polite and nice'.

"That’s not what people want right now,” she added.

The ladies speculated on why Ryan was really leaving. The senator said that the enormous job is too time consuming, and the family man didn't want to be a 'weekend father' to his kids. Behar says she believes he's not running for another term because she thinks he is afraid he'll lose in the midterm elections.

“He gave a press conference saying he wants to spend time with his family — I believe him to a point,” McCain responded. “I believe he doesn’t want to deal with this anymore, and he doesn’t want to go home to his constituents in Wisconsin and try and explain some of the tweeting and the more incendiary things that President Trump is doing right now.”

Behar said Ryan and classic conservatives like McCain can't complain because they haven't gone up against Trump, and much of the audience, which tends to lean left of center in politics, expressed agreement.

“The people that are cheering. Do you know what comes in its place? Trumpism, and I assume if you don’t like Paul Ryan, you probably hate Trump more,” McCain told them. “So maybe don’t cheer when people like Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney and Trey Gowdy, and people like Ben Sasse, who are, thank god, still in office, or maybe on their way out, because I assure you — what’s in its place you will like a lot less.”

Behar asked for examples but kept talking to override McCain when she started listing examples. McCain began to fly off the handle.

“What do you want? If Paul Ryan isn’t good enough?" McCain asked.

Behar said she wants 'them all out'.

“But that’s not logical. We live in a democracy, we should want two healthy parties," McCain argued.

"They are against each other, but if Paul Ryan is the greatest sin, this is how we got Trump because if Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney and people like this are the worst politicians, then you deserve Trump. He was trying to fight for democracy and ideals. Now I have no idea.”
