First Lady Turns Head In Sparkly Chanel Gown At State Dinner

First Lady Melania Trump looked spectacular when she and President Trump met their guests at their first White House state dinner. According to those in attendance, it was a night to remember.

The FLOTUS reportedly tended to every meticulous detail herself, proving once and for all that even though she's an introvert, she's more than up to her role in the White House.

More than 100 guests gathered at the White House, including CEOs, politicians and foreign dignitaries. The State Dining Room looked spectacular in the cream and gold color scheme. Tables were set with china mixed and matched from both the Clinton era and the Bush era, possibly a subtle symbol of bipartisanship.

The tables were decked with floral arrangements with white sweet peas, and the hallway leading to the dining room was lined with cherry blossom branches.

Dinner consisted of rack of lamb with a Cajun-spiced jambalaya, herbs from the White House Kitchen Garden, and the dessert tray included honey from the White House bee hives.

Every element was reportedly chosen by the First Lady. Instead of contracting an event planner, Melania decided to use her own sense of aesthetics and hosting experience to oversee the event herself.

Everything chosen, from the patterns on the chairs to her own dress, had meaning.

"Mrs. Trump selected every item and every detail for the dinner," said Rickie Niceta, White House social secretary, to CNN.

Melania apparently spent weeks working on the event, educating herself about White House event protocol and researching the history of occasions held at the property.

"Spent yesterday with my team checking on the final details of our first State Dinner with France," the FLOTUS tweeted before the event, sharing pictures of the preparations in progress.

Mrs. Trump herself dazzled as she waited hand-in-hand with her husband to greet the guests. She wore a Chanel gown of black Chantilly lace painted silver.

It's not surprising Melania chose Chanel, a brand synonymous with French couture, considering the Trumps were hosting the dinner in honor of their French counterparts.

The gown sparkled with embroidered crystals and sequins. Melania looked dazzling and elegant, with her hair combed sleek and her gunmetal Christian Louboutin stilettos.

The Trumps posed for photos with guests of honor, French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, French first lady Brigitte Macron. Mrs. Macron also stunned in a long-sleeved cream gown with gold embroidered detailing.

Whenever playing hostess, Mrs. Trump seems more at ease than usual, and it's not a surprise. She's a natural, and it's a role in which she really shines.

"She has been very focused on the experience of the guests, and wants to ensure they are able to truly enjoy and remember the occasion. When you are invited to a dinner at the White House, it is very special to be able to sit in the State Dining Room. After all, this is the People's House, which is rich with history and tradition," said Stephanie Grisham, communication director for the East Wing.

President Trump raised a glass and made a warm toast to his wife. "To America's absolutely incredible first lady, thank you for making this an evening we will always cherish and remember. Thank you, Melania," he said as guests applauded.
