Teens Discover Trash Bag Full Of Puppies, Then They See What They Are Holding

Investigators in Barbour County, AL are trying to get to the bottom of a gruesome discovery made on a dirt road by two teens. According to WSFA, the teens discovered a trash bag filled with puppies and two deceased dogs.

The teens, Hannah Killingsworth and Reid Potthoff, were out four-wheeling along the dirt road when they happened upon the trash bag. They heard a distinct and disturbing high-pitched whining sound emanating from the bag, and would open it to find a disturbing sight. The bag was filled with 10 newborn puppies, as well as one dead puppy and their deceased mother.

They would call for help right away, and the young pups were able to be saved.

"I don't think they would have made it at the end of the day if they wouldn't have found them," according to Nicole Benefield, who assisted with rescuing the animals.

A report has been filed with the Clayton Police and the investigation is ongoing. While the teens were pretty shaken up by the sight, they’re relieved they were able to help save the puppies.

"It's a good feeling to know that you did something right, that you could help something so innocent," Hannah said.
