Puppies Found In A Ditch - Why Their Mom Put Them There Is Heartbreaking

A man decided to give away his 4-year-old dog and her litter of puppies. He snapped a photo and posted it on Facebook. People were horrified when the saw the picture and locals sprang to action.

The unnamed North Carolina man posted the heartbreaking photos to Facebook. His dog Nana had just given birth to a litter of 9 puppies. This was her third litter; she had two previous litters, and all but one of her pups died.

Nana lived her life chained up in a yard. She placed her puppies in a ditch partially under the house. The home owner was moving and took photos of the dog saying anyone could come by and take them.

People were shocked by the sight of newborn puppies and their mom left out in a ditch in a back yard day and night. Neighbors, who had long reported the family for animal abuse, called rescuers. Nana was extremely protective of her puppies, so it took a bit of coaxing to gain her trust.

Nana and her puppies were brought to a foster home where they were all nursed back to health. Thankfully, all nine puppies survived and were adopted. Nana was adopted by her foster family.
