Cop Tries To Rescue Dog Locked In Car, Windows Rolled Up On A Summer Day - The Owner's Reasoning Is Unbelievable

An irresponsible dog owner left her dog in a parked car in the middle of a summer day. A woman passed by and saw the dog struggling. She called the police and was ready to break into the car to rescue the suffering pup.

Deborah Parker runs St. Francis Animal Sanctuary, so she knew that the chocolate lab she spotted in a closed car was in great danger. Temperatures outside were in the upper 80s, which means temperatures in a car can rise to over a hundred degrees in a few minutes. She called the police, but she says she was ready to bust the window if things seemed to be getting worse.

An officer arrived, and just as he began trying to jimmy the lock, the owner walked up. The owner claims she was gone only five minutes, but Parker said she'd been standing there longer than that already.

"It really doesn't take that long... it could be deadly for the dog," said the officer.

A law in Ohio protect people if they break into a car to get out a child or animal. Many expect the new laws to save lots of lives.

"Your dog will be dead in a matter of minutes. You thought enough to bring him with you, leave him at home," said Parker.
