Cop Bites Into Sandwich, Instantly Feels Pain and Sees Blood Coming Out of Mouth

An officer of Columbus, Ohio’s 15th precinct was injured after glass shards were found in his sandwich, and police say that the incident was only an accident and not intentional.

Quoc Nguyen reportedly noticed a strange texture and crunching sound after biting into a sandwich at the Lincoln Cafe. He then noticed that he was bleeding from the mouth.

Nguyen was rushed to Grant Medical Center by his parenter at 3 p.m. where hospital staff conducted several tests on the officer, according to ABC 6 On Your Side. Investigators immediately shut down the restaurant to conduct interviews and their investigation. Detectives have determined that the incident doesn’t appear to be intentional.

The health department said they inspected the food and and interviewed the person who served the officer his sandwich. Nothing was found to be wrong with the food, however glass plates with chipped rims and four small pieces of clear broken glass was found under their drying rack, ABC 6 On Your Side reports.

Finding glass in food is very rare, according to the health department. Leon Lewis, the operations manager for the Lincoln Cafe, said the restaurant is fully cooperating with the Columbus Police and Columbus Public Health departments. No charges have been filed in this incident.
