Young Hero's Bravery Takes A Tragic Turn

In South Carolina, La'Darious Wylie died after being hit by the car in Chester on October 27. The 11-year-old is being hailed as a hero because he saved his seven-year-old sister by pushing her out of the car's way.

He and his seven-year-old sister, Sha'Vonta, were at the school bus stop when the out-of-control vehicle came around the corner. The boy instinctively knew to keep his sister safe, but he was hit himself.

La'Darious' mother, Elizabeth McCrorey, said her son sacrificed himself for his sister. She stated, "He knew to look out for her." Unfortunately, the driver did not stop at the scene. La'Darious passed away the next day at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Police were able to track Michelle Johnson, 57, two days after the incident. She has been charged with felony hit and run, resulting in death. She could face up to 25 years in prison if convicted.

A memorial fund set up for La'Darious on GoFundMe had raised over $12,000 as of Wednesday.
