Young Brothers Fatally Shot Answering Knock on Door

On Sunday, around 8:45 p.m., in Mount Oliver, Pennsylvania, David McIntyre, 11, and his older brother Chris "CJ" Conrad, 16, heard knocking at their door. They opened it and were gunned down by an unidentified shooter.

David was pronounced dead at the scene. Chris was critically wounded but in stable condition at UPMC Mercy Hospital. Allegheny County police Lt. Andrew Schurman said, "At this point, we don't know what the motive is."

Schurman did not say who answered the door to the home. He did reveal that the boys' mother and grandfather were also inside the home at the time of the horrific shooting, but were not hit by the gunfire. Their eldest brother was not at home during the shooting.

Pittsburgh Public Schools officials said McIntyre was a sixth-grader at the Pittsburgh Classical Academy, a magnet school for students in sixth through eighth grade. In a statement, the district said "Our thoughts are with the family at this time as they deal with this tragedy."

Conrad attended Pittsburgh Carrick High School. June Saunders is a neighbor who lived in the area for 18 years. Saunders said the brothers would often play in the street in front of their home. She added, "They were good kids. They didn't run the streets, weren't into anything crazy. That's why I don't understand how someone would grab a gun and shoot some kids."

A GoFundMe page was created by a family friend to help pay for McIntyre's funeral and Conrad's medical expenses. Nearly $5,000 has been raised in less than 10 hours.
