You Might Know That The Actress Is Carol Burnett, But Do You Recognize Her Co-Star? (Video)

Do you remember the Carol Burnett Show? If not, you missed quite a treat. The nighttime variety show from the comedy queen featured some of the funniest moments on television. When guest star Dick Van Dyke appeared on the show, the skit performed by Burnett, Van Dyke and show collaborator Vicki Lawrence was pure comedy gold.

The old clip has been circulating on social media, giving older people a blast from the past and delighting younger people who never saw it the first time around. The set-up for this clip was simple: a man walked into the electric company to complain about his service. A clerical error resulted in his account being shut off— his paperwork somehow listed him as ‘dead.’

If you have ever walked into a utility company office to get something done, you have to laugh at the absurdity of the situation because it’s positively plausible. Van Dyke plays the exasperated customer trying to deal with the ‘by the book’ employees who take the paperwork as law.

Any show from the 70’s could seem a bit stale in this day and age compared to modern entertainment, but Burnett’s show is a breath of fresh air. It reminds us that comedy didn't always have to use crude references, sex jokes or cussing every third word in order to be funny.
