Pro Wrestler Saves Woman From Committing Suicide After Grappling Her Down From Bridge

Pro wrestler Davey Boy Smith Junior, better known as Harry Smith, allegedly saved a woman from jumping from a bridge while she was planning on committing suicide. Mr. Smith took to Facebook to share the emotional story, claiming that if it wasn’t for his years of experience as a wrestler, that the woman would have jumped and died.

Harry Smith, a pro-wrestler who spent six years competing in the WWE and continues to wrestle independently, has been dubbed a hero after he used his grappling skills to save a woman from committing suicide. Mr. Smith was allegedly driving on a Sunday evening when he noticed a woman standing on the edge of a bridge in Calgary, crying. Mr. Smith immediately stopped and attempted to talk the woman away from the edge, but she only threatened to jump if he moved any closer.

Thinking on his feet, Mr. Smith made a grab for the woman, and managed to pin her to the ground. “I decided to grab a hold of her and not take any chances,” Mr. Smith stated. “She started to slide and want to go more as I grabbed hold of her.” When Mr. Smith managed to pull the woman from the edge, he used a number of grappling and self-defense techniques in order to keep her on the ground: “When I yanked her off the bridge finally, I established the mount position as you do in Grappling and did not let her budge.”

“Luckily [from] my years of grappling and self-defense, I knew how to grab her hard and not to pull her up from hanging off and jumping,” Mr. Smith continued. “I told her, ‘Miss [you’re] not going to move unless I want you to, I’m an expert grappler…'”

Mr. Smith also noticed that the woman was carrying a gun, yet he somehow managed to keep her from using it on herself or him. He told the woman that she was “not going to shoot [him]. We will get you help…”

Mr. Smith had an incredibly important message for the young woman, telling her that her “life is a precious thing,” and assured her that he was there “to help [her].”

Mr. Smith told his followers that he remained on top of the woman, preventing her from moving, until police arrived. He told police that he believes that if he had not been there to grapple the woman to safety, she would have most likely jumped.

Mr. Smith concluded his post with an emotional plea to his fans and followers, stating, “Life is a precious thing folks. Never take it for granted. I’m glad I was at service to help somebody today and my years of grappling came into play.”

Mr. Smith’s fans have sung his praises, with a number of users expressing their admiration for his life-saving actions. “You did a wonderful, amazing thing Harry,” Ms. Heather Hamilton commented on the Facebook post. “She is so lucky you were passing by. You were her guardian angel.”
