Woman's Electric Wheelchair Broke Down So Jogger Pushed Her All The Way Home

A disabled woman from Smyrna, Ga was out early to get her errands done when her electric wheelchair broke down and conked out on the side of the road. The engine simply died, and she was left with one wheel stuck in the busy street and one still on the sidewalk. The woman, with no phone, didn't know what to do. Thankfully, a jogger came to her rescue.

Bilal Quintyne, a 24-year-old man, was out for a jog with his friend. The woman flagged them down and asked Quintyne if he had a phone and could call for help for her. Quintyne said he would do her one better-- he would push her all the way home.

"I’m in good shape. Where is your house? I’ll take you myself," the amateur boxer told Yahoo! Lifestyle in an interview.

Pushing electric wheelchairs isn't an easy feat, they're not made for manual pushing. On top of that, it was 90 degrees out that hot summer day in the south, and terribly humid. But Quintyne just whipped off his shirt and got to work.

The woman lived a mile away, but Quintyne refused to give up. It took him about 30 minutes. “God blessed me with an able body. So WE pulled her home. A mile or not I wouldn’t go home until she was home. Period," he said.

But Quintyne wasn't done being a good Samaritan. The father of two asked the woman where she was headed when her wheelchair died, and she told him she was on the way to the grocery store. The young man offered to make the trip for her. The woman declined the kind gesture and said he'd done enough.

“When I learned she was on her way to the grocery store, I offered to go food shopping for her, but she wouldn’t allow me,” Quintyne says. “She was crying, very grateful, and said that many people had driven by without stopping to help.”

His friend filmed him doing the job, and the video has gotten nearly 3 million views on Facebook and tens of thousands of shares. The praise came pouring in from people all over the world.

"God bless you brother. We need more loving acts as such. The fact that a fellow sister was in need is all it takes for God to smack that blessing right back on you. Salute," said one person.

" Bilal I'm so proud of the person you've become over the years. You are a great role model for these kids! I pray many blessings come your way," another said.

Some people criticized the young man for filming and posting the video, saying acts of kindness shouldn't be exploited. But one commenter addressed that by saying, "I know people are saying why film it, but I'm glad you did. We see so much negativity. I'm happy to see you acknowledging God and obeying His call. Bless you young man."

“I was doing my job as a man. There’s so much hatred in the world and it costs nothing to love someone. My only goal in sharing this is to restore the values we’ve lost as people," he said.
