Woman Who Went Missing In Tornado, Is Finally Found Four Years Later

A devastating tornado tore through Tuscaloosa, AL back in 2011, and it led to numerous casualties and a slew of missing persons reports. According to AL.com, we can scratch one name off of the missing persons list.

Laurie Anne MacConnell, 53, was recently found safe and sound in Florida. She had lost contact with those closest to her before the storm hit, and when they were unable to locate her after the storm, they reported her missing. The case remained open, and a clue emerged that helped the Tuscaloosa police to track her down.

Her name had come through a checkpoint with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, who alerted the police back in Tuscaloosa since she was on the national registry of missing persons.

"If any of their information gets run at any kind of port, they always check those people," explained Police Capt. Brad Mason.

The police were able to contact the woman via the Broward County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, and confirmed that she was, in fact, safe and sound. MacConnell has been on the move again since being discovered and is now residing with family members in Georgia.
