Woman Waited for His Mom to Look Away, Then Slips Boy This Note

One mom in Alabama is on the hunt for a Good Samaritan. The mother was struggling and having a terrible day, and just when she needed it most, a kind stranger stepped in to help.

Melissa Simms of Pell City has suffered an illness for years that resulted in several surgeries and financial struggles. The day in question was just another stressful day as she tried to cope with what life was throwing at her.

"Me and my husband woke up and split out last ten dollars for gas, for him to go to work and for me to make it to my doctor's appointment," Simms wrote on Facebook. "All day I was stressed about how am I going to make supper for my kids."

To top it off, Simm's son Trey, a 7th grader, was sick that day and had to stay home from school. She hauled him along with her to the doctor's office.

When she arrived, she was told she didn't have enough for the co-payment. After a bit of negotiation, Simms managed to get in to see the doctor after all. She left her son in the waiting room.

After she got out of the doctor's office, Simms and her son headed to the car. Her son handed her an envelope and said a woman told him to give it to his mother. She opened the envelope and was completely shocked.

There was a note that read, "I've had days like you're having today. Hang in there," it read, and quoted the scripture Joshua 1:9, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

The envelope also contained a $100 bill.

Simms began to cry. Not only would she be able to feed her family and make her copayment, but she would also be able to pick up a few more necessities she'd done without.

The only regret Simms has is that she did not get to thank the person. She's searching for her, hoping to meet her or at least get a message out to her anonymous benefactor.

"It's the kindest thing that's ever been done," said Simms. "Truly from the bottom of my heart I thank this woman. I would love to repay it and to pay it forward one day just like she did."
