Woman Shocked By How McDonald's Cashier Reacts To Disabled Elderly Man

You can see the darndest things when you visit the plethora of fast food establishments that dot the landscape of this big old country of ours. Quite frankly, it’s a people-watcher's paradise.

While the vast majority of folks are just stopping in for a quick bite to eat, there are some real characters that can walk through the door at any point in time. The same holds true for those that keep these establishments ticking.

For the most part, the employees are simply there doing their jobs and making sure that customers are tended to and happy. It’s an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay, but it’s not always the easiest line of work due to the aforementioned characters.

Of course, there are also some bad eggs in the bunch, and stories about restaurant employees behaving badly always capture a ton of attention. That’s really a shame, because the actions of a few bad apples can stigmatize the whole industry.

In reality, there’s a bunch of good people that work in fast food restaurants, and there are times when they go way above and beyond the call of duty to make sure their guests have a great day. As Mad World News shares, Destiny Carreno recently came across one of those situations when she stopped into a McDonald’s restaurant in Chicago, and it was so amazing that she was sure to share the details on social media.

She saw a disabled elderly man that was having a really hard time with things, and she feared the worst when she saw an employee approach him. She couldn’t have been more wrong.

“To be honest, I thought the cashier wasn’t going to help, especially during rush hour in downtown Chicago, but to my shock, he shut down his register and disappeared from view….” she wrote. “The cashier came out from the kitchen, sat down, and began cutting the man’s meal and helped him eat.”

Carreno was stunned by what she was seeing. The cashier dropped everything in the middle of an incredibly busy period in the restaurant, and it was all so he could help out a customer that was in need of some assistance.

Quite simply, this is not something that happens every day, and Carreno was overwhelmed by the awesome scene as a result.

“At that point, the tears started to gather in my eyes. My heart was so appreciative for what he did,” she continued. “I couldn’t contain my emotions in the crowded restaurant.”

Carreno was sure to snap a picture of the amazing employee in the midst of his good deed. We can only hope that store management is aware of the fact that they have a real gem on their hands.

“This employee, who put everything on hold for this man, went above and beyond his responsibilities to help this handicapped customer out,” Carreno added. “That was the kindest and most humble thing I had ever seen.”

It’s definitely on the shortlist for the most incredible acts of kindness you’ll see at a fast food establishment, but amazing things like this do happen from time to time. Unfortunately, they just don’t get the recognition they deserve.

Kudos to Carreno for calling attention to such a kind and gracious act, and hats off to the employee that made sure this elderly man was loving it.
