Woman Issues Warning After Her Pillow Suddenly Catches Fire

So many people have a phone in hand so often, that it's not uncommon to take our phones to bed with us. Some of us might even fall asleep with the phone on the bed right beside us. Some people even stash their phones under their pillow for the night so they'll hear the alarm or have it in reach in case of emergency. Police are warning people that this can be a very dangerous practice.

The New York Police Department released photos that show what could potentially happen to a cell phone left in a bed. The scary image features a pillow and mattress with cellphone-shaped scorch marks. The phone's inside is also burnt to a crisp.

The heat of the battery and the phone being smothered resulted in a phone explosion. It's scary to imagine what might have happened if a sleeping body had rolled over onto that phone.

“Don’t put your cellphone under a pillow when sleeping or when charging your device. Please share this tip and b safe!” said a tip accompanying the image.

Keep safe - that's what nightstands are for.
