This Woman Was Asked To Leave Her Gym For Something She Can't Help

Jenna Vecchio had been a member of the ‘Movati Athletic Club’ in Orleans, Ontario, for months when she went to the gym for her usual daily workout. However, she was shocked when she was approached by staff at the gym who told her that she was not dressed appropriately and had to leave the premises.

Ms. Vecchio, who was dressed in black tights and a racerback tank top, was bewildered when staff at ‘Movati Athletic Club’ told her that her “tank top was inappropriate dress and is offensive to both the staff and other members.”

Ms. Vecchio was outraged that she was being called out for “immodest dress” when several other women at the gym were wearing similar t-shirts to her own.

Ms. Vecchio stated “after asking ever woman at the club who I could find on the way out of my attire offended them and they responded no, it became clear that the only ones offended were the two women supervisors working at the club today. I pointed out to them that my shirt was no different than any other woman’s shirt. They informed me that it did not matter that due to my chest size, I could not wear a tank top.”

After this, Ms. Vecchio realized that, because her bust appeared to be much bigger than the other women wearing tank-tops, she was being kicked out of the gym.

This utterly unfair and discriminatory act left Ms. Vecchio “humiliated” and “singled out”, who took to Facebook to express her disgust. Thousands of Facebook users have rallied behind Ms. Vecchio, with hundreds of users tanking ‘Movati Athletic Club’s’ rating on Facebook, purposefully giving the gym 1-star reviews.

Despite being clearly in the wrong, Movati has stood behind their employees’ decision to remove Ms. Vecchio from the premises. While they have stated they regret that Ms. Vecchio had a ‘negative experience’, they have maintained that “…Ms. Vecchio’s attire was not as modest… and caused multiple staff members to feel uncomfortable and voice their concerns to our staff.”

After a follow-up meeting between Ms. Vecchio and Movati, it appears both parties were able to resolve the issue and go their separate ways.
