Woman Calls 911 For Dying Father, Police Show Up, Arrest Her (Video)

Emergencies that are serious enough to warrant a call to 911 are incredibly stressful, and can sometimes lead to lapses away from normal communication protocols. According to Democratic Underground, this girl in Michigan suffered one of those lapses, and found herself behind bars as a result.

The girl, 17-year-old Adrianne Ledesma, had phoned 911 after she arrived at home to find her father having a seizure on the floor. The father had recently undergone brain surgery, and Adrianne was understandably upset when she tried to call for help. Her first call to 911 would go unanswered, and she would hang up and call back again.

Adrianne apparently muttered an expletive while hanging up, and also while waiting for someone to pick up the second call. The operator, Sgt. Robert McFarlan, would answer the call as she was cursing, and begin to admonish the girl.

"Send me a (expletive) ambulance," was Adrianne’s response.

The operator cursed back at her and hung up. A third call would result in an argument before the officer and Adrianne, who was still unable to get some help for her father.

McFarlan would contact the police department, and reportedly tell them "I kept getting a 911 call from a filthy-mouthed girl who wanted a rescue. I never found out what it was and I was never able to transfer it over to you."

Adrianne would eventually get some help for her father and go to the police station, where she was promptly arrested by the same operator for abusing 911. The charges would not stick, and McFarlan was suspended and sent to training classes.
