Will Trump Put Clinton In Jail?

During this long election, a lot of campaign promises have been made. Few were really expecting either candidate to make good on all of them. Now that Donald Trump has won the 2016 presidential election, there is one promise in particular that people are wondering about. Will President Elect Trump make good on it?

During the election, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's campaign was rocked by an email scandal. While some have brushed off her use of a private email as a 'simple mistake,' others have been calling for Clinton to be prosecuted.

The country had mixed reactions to the FBI's decision to exonerate Clinton (both times). Some feel deals were struck behind the curtain of Washington so that Clinton could get off easy. Others point to foul play - ignoring a federal subpoena, trying to destroy evidence and documents showing Clinton sent top secret documents on her own secret, unsecure server are just too incriminating to ignore. A popular anti-Clinton campaign chants included 'Hillary for prison!' and 'lock her up!'

President Elect Trump said during the presidential debates that if he had it his way, Clinton 'would be in jail.' During the second Presidential debate in October, Trump promised, "I am going to instruct my attorney general to get a special prosecutor to look into your situation. Because there has never been so many lies, so much deception. There has never been anything like it. And we’re gonna have a special prosecutor."

"There has never been anything like this where e-mails, and you get a subpoena," Trump continued. "You get a subpoena, and after getting the subpoena you delete 33,000 e-mails and then you acid wash them or bleach them, as you would say. Very expensive process. So we’re gonna get a special prosecutor and we’re gonna look into it."
