WikiLeaks Reveals What The DNC Did Two Months Prior To Trump Joining The Presidential Race

A new WikiLeaks email suggests Donald Trump was a political target of the Democratic National Committee a full two months before he officially joined the 2016 presidential race. In an ironic twist, the leaked memo argues the DNC should work to “boost” Pied Piper candidates such as Trump, Cruz and Carson.

The smoking gun April 7, 2015, email from Hillary Clinton’s campaign to the DNC outlines a strategy to make any candidate nominated by the Republican Party “unpalatable” to voters. It also says the goals of the Clinton campaign and the DNC are “one and the same.”

The email describes “Pied Piper” candidates as those that would move the GOP in a direction that would make it hard for Clinton to lose the November election. The memo lists Trump, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson as “Pied Pipers.”

“[W]e don’t want to marginalize the candidates, but make them more ‘Pied Piper’ candidates who actually represent the mainstream Republican Party,” the leaked memo notes.

The memo also highlights that Democrats should work closely with the media to boost these candidates.

“We need to be elevating the Pied Piper candidates so that they are leaders of the pack and tell the press to [take] them seriously,” the memo continues.

The memo also lays out three ways to protect Clinton:

1) Force all Republican candidates into extreme conservative positions that will end up hurting them with moderates in a general election;
2) Undermine any credibility Republican presidential candidates have to make inroads against our liberal coalition or independents;
3) Work to mitigate and muddy the waters on any potential attacks against Clinton.
