Who Leaked The Trump Tape? New Information Isn't Good For His Campaign

As the furor over Donald Trump’s lewd comments from 2005 begins to quiet to a dull roar, speculation continues to ramp up on who may have been responsible for leaking the tapes. As Western Journalism reports, fingers are being pointed on both sides of the aisle.

Initially, it was widely assumed that the leak sprung from the Democratic side. Friday afternoon’s release of the Trump tape successfully buried another dump from WikiLeaks that exposed more emails from the Hillary Clinton campaign, and that seemed to be an all too convenient coincidence.

While it remains possible that the tapes were being kept in the back pocket of Democratic operatives to be used when necessary, speculation is beginning to point to another possible suspect. Dan Senor is a top adviser for House Speaker Paul Ryan, and he offered up some unusual tweets earlier this week.

“Note to media: if interviewing Trump surrogates today, focus q's on tape. Besides Rudy, these surrogates were all hiding over the weekend1/2,” he tweeted.

“Now Trump surrogates magically appear b/c debate wasn't a disaster. You shld intv them abt the tape, as though the debate never occurred 2/2,” the tweet continued.

Senor’s wife also happens to be Campbell Brown, a former anchor with both CNN and NBC, who seemed to give a wink-wink answer when asked directly if her husband was the source. For Senor’s part, he’s referred to suggestions that he’s the leaker as “ludicrous.”
