When This Bride Walked Down The Aisle, Everyone Was Stunned, Then Broke Into Tears

For many women, they dream of the day that they will one day walk down the aisle and marry the love of their lives. Even a lot of parents look forward to that special day when their little girl will be walking down the aisle.

For one woman, that important moment almost didn't happen. The bride-to-be suffered a spinal cord injury in a terrible accident and couldn't walk, but her determination to get up on her feet for her wedding day paid off.

Three years ago, Jennifer Darmon was in a van that was involved in a horrible accident. She was pinned under the vehicle and her spinal cord was injured.

She was paralyzed from the waist down. Her life was shattered in just a few scary moments, but she went straight to trying to pick up the pieces.

Though she was in a wheelchair, Jennifer made the best of things. Luckily, she had her boyfriend, Mike Belawetz, to help her.

Mike could have run when he saw the challenges that he would have to face with Jennifer, but instead he realized that the positives outweighed the negatives. He asked her to marry him, and she accepted.

“Since the accident, I just realized what a determined woman she is and how really amazing and inspiring she is," Mike said on 'Today'.

Jennifer had a dream. She dreamed that she would walk down the aisle on her wedding day, not roll down it.

At the time, though, Jennifer's future was unclear. The couple didn't know if she would ever walk again.

Mike didn't care either way, but he wanted Jennifer to achieve her dream. He supported her through surgeries, encouraged her through physical therapy and helped push her so that she could achieve her goal.

Jennifer was so determined to walk down the aisle that she even borrowed a wedding dress to practice in physical therapy.

"I will be walking down that aisle," Jennifer told ABC News. "It's not an 'if' or a 'maybe', it is absolutely going to happen."

The wedding day came, and when the doors opened for the bride to come in, everyone was completely stunned. Jennifer made it!

She was walking down the aisle to perhaps the most appropriate wedding song ever: Edward McClain's 'Walk With You'.

She wore leg braces under her dress and her father and brother helped walk her up to her groom, but her dream came true. There was not a dry eye in the house.

Jennifer even got to dance at her reception.

At the end of the ceremony, Mike swept his new bride up into his arms and carried her away. It was a beautiful stop on one very special journey that this couple took together, but it wasn’t the end.

They’ve still got a long road to walk together in life, and it looks like they can handle any ups and downs.

“It was amazing for everyone to be in the room at once to see what I had been working [toward] for so many years since the accident," Jennifer said on 'Today'.

“Everyone was crying, so I was making faces at them, trying to get them to smile. And then I focused on Mike at the end of the aisle and just made my way to him."
