This Is What The Medal Of Honor Recipient Used To Look Like - Look At Him Now

Kyle Carpenter first made headlines after the brave hero dove in front of an incoming grenade in Afghanistan to protect a fellow Marine in 2010, then was the eighth youngest living recipient of the Medal of Honor in 2014.

“Without hesitation and with complete disregard for his own safety, Lance Corporal Carpenter moved toward the grenade in an attempt to shield his fellow Marine from the deadly blast,” the medal’s citation reads. “When the grenade detonated, his body absorbed the brunt of the blast, severely wounding him, but saving the life of his fellow Marine.”

Though his act of heroism left him badly burned and took his eye, you can tell from his Instagram page that life is now very good for Carpenter.

The marine, whose received several surgeries, has since inspired others to be brave and heroic.

“This Marine hugged me, started crying and told me I was his hero,” he wrote on his Instagram account, which is hilariously titled chiksdigscars. “It's hard for me to comprehend and accept that but just know that meant more than I could ever put into words or tell you. Semper Fidelis brother and thank you for your sacrifice and service.”

By the rest of his photos you can tell that the true American hero often finds himself in the company of beautiful women and celebrities.
