Westboro Baptist Church Attempted To Hold A Protest At Marine's Funeral - Big Mistake (Video)

The Westboro Baptist Church are a group who protest at military funerals because the modern US military accepts openly gay service members into its ranks.

But when the “Westies” decided to protest at the funeral of Marine Corporal Richard Bennet (who died in a helicopter crash in Iraq), they were met by determined counter protestors.

It looked like the family of this fallen Marine was going to have to deal with the chants, but fortunately, a dedicated group of bikers known as “The Patriot Guard” showed up to protect the family.

“No family should have to face this type of hatred on the day that they’re putting their loved ones to rest,” a regular member of the motorcycle group commented. Corporal Bennet died defending our rights, even the right of members of the Westboro Baptist Church the right to picket at his own funeral.

As many other people have commented, it’s reassuring to see the Patriot Guard show up to counteract the “Westies.” The bikers use their bodies and motorcycles as shields, and their engines to drown out the chants of the Westboro protestors.

Even more important, all of the bikers manage to keep a calm demeanor in spite of the hateful words from the religious group.
