Walmart Parking Lot Encounter Lands Elderly Woman In The Hospital (Video)

These days, everyone should be aware that cameras are everywhere. One woman angry about losing a prime parking space forgot for a moment, and she did something that got her arrested. The camera doesn't lie, but apparently, she and her lawyer do.

Kezia Perkins, a 32-year-old woman in Greenfield, Wisconsin, thought she had stumbled upon the perfect parking spot. On that fateful snowy day, the handicapped spot was right in front of the store entrance. Perkins was having trouble turning into the spot due to an unfortunate angle. Just as she was about to correct herself, another car came out of nowhere and zipped right in. It's not clear if the woman who took the spot realized that Perkins was trying to get into it.

Surveillance video shows Perkins getting out of the car. When a small, skinny, 71-year-old woman got out of the car, Perkins, a considerably larger and younger woman, rushed up to her and chest-butted her. The older woman flew several feet and landed in a pile of slush.

Perkins took off, and the elderly woman ended up in surgery for five hours for a second hip replacement and femur fractures. Thanks to surveillance video, police found and arrested Perkins.

Perkins’s attorney put out a compelling statement painting his client as the victim. "We maintain Ms. Perkins' innocence... This was an unfortunate accident that came about after a misunderstanding between two individuals," her lawyer said to FOX6 in a statement, claiming Perkins has an ‘invisible disability.’

"More than anything, this case highlights the need for individuals to be aware of and sensitive to the fact that many people may suffer from disabilities and ailments that are not always readily noticeable. We believe that the facts will come out as this matter progresses and that ultimately Ms. Perkins will be cleared of the charges in this case."

There's one problem with that-- Perkins didn't have a legitimate disability placard. The one on her car she was trying to use was not only invalid, but was originally registered to someone else entirely. On top of that, Perkin's license was suspended at the time. The woman had no legal right to be driving, or to use a handicapped spot.

You have to hand it to the attorney, though; that kind of misdirection is worthy of the magician's guild.
