Waitress Outraged When She Sees Customer's Note Explaining Why She's Getting No Tip

Something about a waitress caught the attention of her customers. No one said a word to her while she served them, but after the meal was over the customers left her a rude message on the bill. They also didn't leave her a tip. Her friend was furious and posted a photo of the receipt, which went viral.

Samantha Heaton of Illinois was working at a Buffalo Wild Wings on August 5. She served a family, and thought she was doing a good job. When she handed them the $60.55 check, she was surprised to find they paid the bill without leaving a tip.

"Can't tip someone who doesn't love Jesus! Bad tatoo (sic)," read a note on the receipt.

Heaton believes they were talking about the tattoo on her arm. It is two rainbows in an 'equal' sign, which symbolizes equality for LGBTQ people. The 20-year-old waitress was frustrated.

"I went above and beyond for this couple, and for them to leave that (note) kind of hurt," the waitress told the Rock River Times. "Like, I have bills to pay too."

Joelle Maish, a friend and co-worker, was furious over the incident. She took a photo of Heaton's tattoo, along-side the receipt with the message, and posted it to Facebook.

"I would just like to say that being gay does NOT MEAN you don't believe in God or Jesus," she wrote in a rant. "And people who are 'religious' should not disrespect or act in such ways to other people."

It turns out that Heaton is also a Christian. She's worried about the kids who were at the table, and the kinds of messages the parents are passing on.

"The kids are going to be under the impression that it will be OK to discriminate against anybody," she said.

Heaton's girlfriend, Alyssa Christina, is also furious about the incident. She wrote a post on Facebook condemning the couple for their intolerance.

"I'm sure you seen her tattoo as she introduced herself, why not just ask for another server," wrote Christina. "Instead you let her serve you so that you could leave this ugly comment. No need to be rude because she is who she is. You believe in God? I couldn't tell."

There are some people who don’t believe Heaton’s story, and have blasted her in the comments. Similar situations have happened in recent years and a couple of them have proven to be hoaxes. A couple of servers have been busted for pocketing cash tips, then writing racist or anti-LGBTQ messages themselves on the receipts in order to garner attention and sympathy. They then went on to collect thousands of dollars in donations.

There is no evidence that this situation was a hoax, and Heaton is not looking to make money off of it. People on the internet have offered to give Heaton a tip to make up for her being stiffed and offended, but she says she doesn't want money from anyone. If she gets any, she plans to donate it to charity.
