Waitress Floored After Reading Text Message From Her Boss (Photos)

The dawn of text messaging and social media has forever altered the communication patterns of society, and there are some who lament those changes as the death of civilized conversation. According to Click Orlando, there are 13 former servers from this Orlando restaurant who are likely leaning towards that line of thinking after a recent experience.

The servers were employees at Lilly's on the Lake in Clermont until they received a disturbing text message from the restaurant’s new general manager.

"We have decided to move on without you. We appreciate the opportunity to work with you and all your hard work...Unfortunately we are unable to call and speak with you individually. We hope you understand the decision we made,” the message read in part.

Needless to say, that text message was a pretty jolting one to receive.

"I think it's wrong. It's unprofessional. If someone's going to fire they need to call you in and let you know what you did wrong. I don't even know what I did wrong," said former employee Elizabeth Peters.

Other employees have concurred with Elizabeth’s assessment. Not so fast, says newly-hired general manager Brad Barnett. He claims that the employees that were let go are part of the restaurant’s housecleaning, and they were attempting to avoid a scene with problem employees.

"The story is we're at a point where we have excess amount of employees, we tried to do the right thing and let those employees go," he explained.
