Video Of What Firefighter Was Caught Doing To Girl At Car Crash Goes Viral

A firefighter is in the spotlight after aerial footage was released showing him with a 4-year-old girl involved in a huge rig accident on a highway. After the ‘Swift Transportation’ rig lost control and smashed through the metal guardrail, it entered oncoming traffic, completely wiping out two cars before coming to a stop across the motorway. The 34-year-old woman in control of the rig was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident.

When Mr. Ryan Lopez arrived at the scene of an accident in La Mesa, California, he was horrified at the severity of the crash. As a paramedic of the Heartland Fire and Rescue Department, Mr. Lopez was quick to come to the aid of the individuals who were involved, immediately rushing to help a 4-year-old toddler. The uninjured toddler was instantly scooped up by Mr. Lopez, who carried her away from the scene, where her sister and mother were being treated by paramedics. The toddler’s sister suffered a broken neck during the impact and was not breathing when paramedics arrived, while the girl’s mother only suffered minor injuries.

Knowing how terrified this poor young girl must be, Mr. Lopez did not hesitate to remove her from the stressful scene. Cradling her in his arms, Mr. Lopez distracted the toddler by showing her tools on his jacket, pointing out the different parts of the fire engine and giving her some water. Aerial footage shows the toddler tucked safely into Mr. Lopez’s arms as he comforted her and reassured her that she was safe. “She really just wanted to hang on and just feel safe,” Mr. Lopez stated.

Mr. Lopez has been hailed a hero for his compassionate attitude with the young girl. However, despite the media attention, Mr. Lopez has remained humble, simply noting that “it’s not something I would ever seek out to take recognition for. I know someone else in my same position would’ve done the same thing.” Having recently welcomed his own daughter into the world, Mr. Lopez’s paternal instincts helped him keep the toddler calm.

Unfortunately, not everyone involved in the accident was as lucky as this 4-year-old girl. Two women, Nancy Bauerlein, 57, and her daughter, Jennifer Thompson-Campbell, 29, were instantly killed when their green Chevrolet Aveo was struck by the rig. A black KIA was also hit, leaving a 6-year-old girl, who was not restrained in her car seat, in a critical condition and three others, including the 4-year-old toddler, with some minor injuries. Both children were rushed to Rady Children’s Hospital alongside their mother, with the 6-year-old girl allegedly in a stable condition.

While authorities have not been able to determine the cause of the accident, they are hoping that footage recovered from the rig’s dashboard camera will shed some light on the situation. Both the driver of the rig and her male passenger only suffered superficial injuries.
