UK Boy Returns iPhone Found On Subway; Turns Down Reward

There are some people who are still willing to go out of their way to help others. A few months ago, a good-hearted 12-year-old boy from Alvechurch, England turned a £20 reward for the return of a lost iPhone, and replied that the owner of the phone should just do “something nice for someone else”.

Josh Brown found the iPhone4 on a subway seat, and a few minutes later answered a call on the phone that turned out to be the owner’s mom.

Brown told Michelle Hickinbottom he had found the phone on the train seat, but was going to leave her 16-year-old daughter Shaunnah's phone at the ticket office at Selly Oak train station.

Hickinbottom (from West Heath in Birmingham) later decided to launch a social media campaign to locate the kind-hearted boy.

The posts went viral on Facebook and Twitter, and it didn’t take long until Josh's mother Angela Brown reached out.

She said that Josh was “overwhelmed” by all the positive responses.

Hickinbottom explained her motivation for finding Josh: “I just wanted to find him as I thought it was a lovely thing to do. I said to him on the phone at the time it was really appreciated and to leave his address so I could send him £20 to thank him really.”
