Uber Driver Points Gun at Passenger For Outrageous Reason

Patrick McDonald, 67, is an Uber driver arrested and charged with aggravated assault and misdemeanor battery. On Friday night, in Bradenton, Florida, he pulled a gun on the passenger, Shane Fabry, when he was worried he might vomit in his $75,000 Lexus.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, Fabry wasn't feeling well and asked McDonald to pull over "in the event that he began to vomit."

McDonald stopped, and Fabry said he was feeling better. Yet, McDonald, still wanted him to get up.

The affidavit reads "the defendant told the victim that he needed to get out of the car and that he was not to throw up" in his $75,000 vehicle. McDonald then tried to pull him out when Fabry said he would get out. Fabry told authorities that McDonald took an "aggressive fighting stance" before reaching in the driver's side to pull out a semi-automatic handgun.

McDonald was released on Saturday after posting a $2,500 bond. An Uber spokesman said, "This driver's account has been deactivated as we continue to gather the facts regarding this incident. We stand ready to provide law enforcement with any information that would be helpful to their investigation into this matter."

In addition, Uber has a firearms prohibition policy.
