Two Women Complete Army Ranger School

Two female soldiers have made history as the first to graduate from the Army's elite Ranger school this week--they completed the final, extremely challenged leg of one of the U.S. military's most demanding courses. Both of the women were West Point graduates and began the agonizing course in April with 380 men and 17 other women as part of the first class to include women. They had to carry 100 pounds through the rugged mountains of northern Georgia and the swamps of the Florida panhandle with little food or sleep.

The ladies will get their Ranger Tabs in a Georgia ceremony in Fort Benning. The swamp phase of the course includes waterborne operations training, a 10-day field training exercise, two jumps for airborne qualified personnel and two administrative days. In addition, they were required to pass the Mountain Phase, a knot test and a 1.8 mile foot march up Mount Yonah.
