Two Men Blindsided After Attacking Cop On Rural Highway - They Never Saw This Coming

Police officers are trained to remain calm in the face of life-threatening situations but sometimes, a little backup is needed. The superb training and courage of law enforcement officers and ordinary civilians was recently demonstrated after a dash-cam video emerged in 2017 detailing the pursuit of a speeding bike rider by a Michigan State Trooper. On February 20, 2017, Officer Gary Guild began pursuing a reckless biker using a stolen motorcycle. A lengthy pursuit ensued as the biker, Michael Barber, attempted to evade the determined police trooper but was foiled when he crashed his stolen bike after riding through a grassy patch. Thinking that the dangerous incident was over, Officer Guild exited his vehicle and moved to restrain the reckless criminal.

However, as Officer Guild was in the process of restraining the man, Mr. Barber began fighting back. To make matters worse, Mr. Barber’s brother, Travis Wise, arrived on the scene as the physical confrontation began, and tackled Officer Guild to the ground. In a stunning turn of events, a group of citizens intervened in the one-sided brawl before the situation could escalate further. With the help of these good Samaritans, Officer Guild was able to handcuff Barber and Wise, drawing the potentially deadly situation to a close.

Without the selfless and courageous assistance of the Michigan civilians, Officer Guild could have been seriously injured or even killed and two criminals would have escaped, potentially harming others in the process.

Sadly, across America, allegations of abuse of power and corruption have tainted the image of law enforcement officers. However, many police officers remain good, honest people who risk their lives to safeguard their communities and protect ordinary people. Luckily, in this case, those ordinary people were able to repay Officer Guild for his bravery and service by saving him from the two vicious criminals. Among other things, Barber and Wise have been charged with Assault-Strangulation for which they may face 10 years’ imprisonment.
