TIME Magazine Cover Bashes Trump's White House - MAD Magazine Says It's A Rip-Off

TIME magazine thought it had a winner on its hands with its latest cover piece, and the publication took to social media to call attention to it. They would get some attention, but not all of it was of the positive variety. In fact, another publication would call out TIME for essentially ripping off one of its old cover photos. As Fox News shares, both covers featured pictures of the White House transforming into something that resembles the Kremlin.

Just in case you haven’t had your fill of Trump-Russia stories, the weekly news magazines have decided to pick up a bat and see how far they can beat it into the ground. The cover of TIME for its issue dated May 18, 2017, features no headline, but it does feature a nifty-looking piece of artwork. To the far left, you see a familiar looking White House, but it’s starting to transform into the Kremlin as you scan further to the right.

Apparently, TIME felt the symbolism was enough to sell some magazines, hence the absence of words to describe what the photo was intended to represent. It’s either that or the fact that this story has been covered from every angle imaginable at this point, and that there’s absolutely nothing else left to say.

To summarize succinctly: there’s a lot of people that believe something nefarious is going on between Trump and the Russians, but no concrete evidence has been presented to prove it, despite an endless stream of stories that claim to show something resembling a smoking gun.

Those who do not subscribe to that theory view it as nothing more than a waste of time aimed at derailing the Trump administration. Until something resembling a material fact presents itself, that’s all we’ve got, but we can still expect the media to extract all of the mileage possible out of this story.

As for the cover, MAD magazine was quite intrigued by what TIME came up with. In fact, that publication had done the same thing back in December, and they were sure to take to social media to point that out.

“Once More, With Stealing Dept. TIME MAGAZINE RIPS OFF MAD MAGAZINE?” the publication shared.

Since TIME is obviously struggling to come up with new material, perhaps this was just an homage to a cover that they really liked a whole bunch. Either way, the editorial staff has some explaining to do right about now.
