Teen In Hot Water Following Her Announcement That She’ll Be Performing At Trump’s Inauguration

In a post-election hissy fit, a number of liberal-leaning celebrities have refused to perform at President Elect Donald Trump's inauguration this month. One 16-year-old crooner has jumped at the opportunity to fill the void.

Jackie Evancho, runner up of the show 'America's Got Talent', will be singing the National Anthem at the presidential inauguration on January 20th. The teen is thrilled to have been chosen. "I'm so excited. It's going to be awesome."

It won't be Evancho's first time performing in Washington. She's performed for other events such as the Independence Day concert, the national Christmas tree lighting and the National Prayer Breakfast.

The young performer has been slammed by both liberals and conservatives on social media. Liberals are complaining that any celebrity might do anything but continue to protest a Trump presidency. Conservatives have attacked Evancho because her transgendered sister has made national news for challenging the state of Pennsylvania’s public school restroom rules.

Evancho and her fans have, for the most part, remained positive. Evancho, who has also performed for President Barack Obama, is remaining apolitical. “I felt really honored to get a chance to perform for the president again,” she said.
