Teen Gives Bullied Boy A Box Filled With...(PHOTOS)

A teenage girl has stepped up to the plate to make things a little bit easier for a boy that was being bullied by other kids in the neighborhood. According to ABC 7 News, she even gave him a $200 pair of Lebron James sneakers that she thought he could use.

The boy, named Richard, showed up at a pick-up basketball game and wanted to join in. A bunch of the kids would quickly turn their attention to Richard, and begin belittling him for his appearance, including the tattered shoes he was wearing. Shaylynn Hampton, 13, was playing basketball at the time, but didn’t care for the other kids messing with Richard.

"I felt bad. When I was little, when I was his age, I got made fun of. And I didn't like that. So to stop that feeling for someone else, it made me feel good," Shaylynn explains.

During a break in the action, Shaylynn ran home to grab something she thought Richard could use. She returned to present him with a $200 pair of Lebron James sneakers, and Richard couldn’t have been happier with his new gift – and friend. Shaylynn’s mother, Jackie Workman, has given her seal of approval to her daughter’s kind act.

"I think that there's still good in the world," Jackie said.
