Teen Confronts Man Berating A Woman In Public - Ends Up In Tears

If you saw a man verbally abusing his wife in a public place, would you stop and do something about it? One teen bravely stood up for a woman in trouble and was moved to tears by what she heard. Thankfully, the scenario was a social experiment, but the teens very real reaction is touching.

John Quiñones, host of ABC show 'What Would You Do?,’ sent an actor and actress into a public mall to pretend to be husband and wife. The husband was instructed to be verbally abusive to the woman, and the actor got right into the character. He called her names, mentioned cheating on her and treated her like garbage.

The wife looked absolutely depressed and defeated, but most people decided to mind their own business. One young man did stop to stare at the couple in disbelief, and he possibly considered stepping in, but ultimately, he walked away.

Brave Martina, 19, was the one person who couldn't stand to see a woman being treated that way. She pulled the wife aside and told her she didn't deserve to be treated like that. As the angry husband demanded the wife come with him, Martina begged her not to go.

Martina had no idea the encounter was an act with cameras. She broke into tears but refused to back down. She stood up to a strange man and she tried to empower the abused wife.

Quiñones asked Martina what would have happened if the man turned on her.

"Then she wouldn't have been alone," Martina responded.

If only more people were that brave and that compassionate. A lot of victims might have an easier time standing up for themselves if they knew they would not be standing alone.
