Teacher Says The Unthinkable About The Obamas - Regrets It Now

In a perfect world, everyone employed in the field of education will come equipped with an open mind and an inherent knack for setting a good example for those that they teach. That’s not always the case, and we have our latest example courtesy of a high school teacher from West Virginia. As Raw Story reports, she has been suspended for some outrageously offensive racist postings and on social media.

Mary Durstein is a teacher at Huntington High, and some of her students became aware of her ramblings on social media. The students were pretty taken aback, and it’s pretty easy to see why.

“Muslim douchebag,” she shared under one photo of former President Obama.

“Who cares if we offend Muslims at least they keep their heads on tact. They’re the enemy,” she shared in another.

She also thought it was appropriate to refer to the perpetrators of a horrific and vile assault against a disabled man in Chicago as people that “could have been Obama’s children.”

School administrators also took umbrage with her social media habits.

“The tweets that you have seen - those are things that we do not adhere to. We believe that all children are welcome here - all adults as well - in Cabell County schools. We want to make sure that is clear to our students and clear to the employees that work for us,” said Cabell County Superintendent Bill Smith.

Durstein has been asked to delete her social media accounts while the investigation is ongoing, and she has been suspended pending the outcome.

“We don’t want to deny teachers the access they can have to the Internet or Facebook and all the other stuff they want to have, but they need to be cognizant of who they are speaking to. And when what they say interferes with the educational process, it becomes a problem,” he continued.

Durstein has retained an attorney to assist her in the investigation.
