Student Was Abducted - Her Mother’s Advice Saved Her Life

A University of South Carolina student was driving home after work when three men abducted her at gunpoint. The men demanded she bring them to an ATM machine and withdraw money from her account, but the way she heard them talking she knew that things were going to be a lot worse than a robbery.

Then she remembered something her mother taught her, and it's a good thing she followed her mother's advice.

Jordan Dinsmore had driven home after a shift at the restaurant where she works, but when she pulled into her apartment complex parking lot, someone was watching her. She got out of the car and three men approached.

They had a gun and ordered her to get back into the car. They got in with her and tried to drive away, but none of them knew how to drive a stick shift. They ordered Dinsmore to drive to the nearest ATM.

Jordan obeyed and headed to the bank. She got out to take out the money, she brought it back to them. That's when the 20-year-old girl realized that this was not just a robbery.

She overheard her abductors talking about what they were going to do to her. One said he was planning to bring her back to his 'auntie's' house to sexually assault her.

Dinsmore's mother, Beth Turner, was once in a similar situation. When she was in college, a man attempted to sexually assault her. She fought off the man and managed to escape.

Turner always taught her daughter that she should get away from an attacker by any means possible. Often when you managed to break free and run, an attacker won't follow you in public.

Most abductors don't want to fight, risking getting hurt or caught. They'll want an easier target and the majority will decide you aren't worth the trouble.

If you go with an attacker to try and appease him, though, chances are what he's going to do to you in private will be a whole lot worse than fighting to get away from him in public. Turner taught Dinsmore to never, ever let an attacker take you to another location because they'll have the upper hand, and they probably mean to do some very serious harm.

As these memories came flooding back to Dinsmore, she got in the car and drove off with the three men, pretending to follow their instructions. Meanwhile, she was thinking, "I’m going to be strong like my mom, Jordan thought to herself. I’m going to get myself out of this."

When Dinsmore got back into the car, she didn't buckle in. When she hit 40 miles per hour, she opened the car door and jumped out. "I just remember thinking, 'It's now or never'," she said.

Dinsmore left the attackers in a speeding vehicle that they didn't know how to drive, so they just fled. She immediately got on the phone and called 911 for help.

Police captured the culprits, who were identified as 17-year-old Raquan Dejoure Green and two 15-year-old males. Because they are minors their names have not been released.

The three teens had been on a crime spree targeting white people because they told police they didn't like white people. Things had escalated with Dinsmore, when they forced her to come along for the ride and plotted to sexually assault her.
