Statins Are Used To Reduce Cholesterol, But Many Don't Know About Its Horrible Side Effect

Most likely, you know someone who is on Crestor or Lipitor to regulate their cholesterol levels. Doctors prescribe cholesterol regulators, or statins, without thinking twice. However, according to Your Nation News, the little known side effects of the drug could have harmful consequences.

When people have “bad” or high levels of cholesterol that need to be lowered, they are often prescribed these statins to take on a daily basis. The most popular ones are Crestor and Lipitor. While doctors say it’s important to regulate cholesterol and that these medications are helpful, a recent study says they could actually be doing harm.

According to the American Journal of Physiology, statins may negatively affect stem cells in one’s body, specifically in the heart. They are also said to advance the aging process and increase the risk of myopathy, or skeletal fragility, in those with diabetes. Some have even reported that they now have cataracts, liver problems and memory loss after being prescribed statins.

The FDA, however, doesn’t feel the need to take them off the market because their benefits reportedly outweigh any risks associated with the medication.

Mike Adams, a.k.a. The Health Ranger, says that statins causes the degradation of muscle tissue, and that those who take the medication are twice as likely to develop diabetes. His video on the harmful effects of statins has gotten thousands of views.
