'Son Of Sam' Serial Killer Makes Shocking Revelation

Some folks take longer than others to put two and two together in the game of life. There’s plenty of different reasons for that, but the most important thing is that they get there before too much time has passed. Of course, some folks do far too much damage while traveling down the road to achieve a breakthrough, and that makes it next to impossible to be filled with feelings of good tidings and cheer when it happens. Here’s a perfect example of that.

As AOL shares, David Berkowitz, better known as the “Son of Sam,” claims that he’s a new man. The convicted serial killer says that he has found Jesus while behind bars, and he now considers himself a born-again Christian. Minister Roxanne Tauriello visits him regularly in prison, and she claims that he’s clear on the damage he has wrought.

“David grieves over that a lot, and you can’t say to him - you never want to say ‘Son of Sam’ in front of him. He never uses that name, ever,” she says. “He is genuinely sorrowful and does not want to get out of prison. He knows he deserved to die and deserves to be exactly where he is.”

Criminologist Scott Bonn has also spoken to Berkowitz for a book he wrote about serial killers, and he provides some more insight on a man that’s serving six life sentences for his deranged actions.

“He is very aware of the public’s fear and incredible fascination with him,” he said. “He is a gnome-looking, bald, chubby guy with red cheeks, and he comes bouncing in to meet you. He is quite different from the sullen ‘Son of Sam’ from the ’70s. He claims to be a born-again Christian,”

Retired N.Y.C. police Capt. Joe Borrelli isn’t sold, noting that “It doesn’t make up for all those young women that he killed.” We’ll consider that an incredibly fair point. Changing for the better is never a bad thing, but this is an example of too little, too late.

Berkowitz terrorized the city in 1976 and 1977 before finally being captured, and he would leave behind notes for the authorities referencing himself as the ‘Son of Sam.’ He initially tried to claim he was insane, but he eventually pleaded guilty and was slapped with six sentences of 25-years to life. Nonetheless, Tauriello sees a changed man.

“I cannot reconcile his deeds with the person I know today. It is hard to believe that at one time he was so wicked, so evil, so violent. He is not putting on a façade, and he is not doing anything to get out of prison,” she says, adding that “He told me in conversations that he deserved to die, that he should have died, but at that time in New York, they did not have the death penalty. He destroyed the lives of his victims, the parents of his victims and those that survived, who have to live with the fear of that.”
