Son Calls 911 To Report His Dad Ran A Red Light

Six-year-old Robbie Richardson of Quincy, Massachusetts understands the importance of obeying the law. This law-abiding young man was riding with his dad on some errands last Saturday when he noticed his dad drove through a red light.

Robbie thought the police should know what had happened, so he picked up his dad’s phone and dialed 911. The resulting conversation is most entertaining.

Transcript Of Son Reporting Dad 911 Call

“Um... daddy went past a red light,” Robbie says in response to the dispatchers query regarding his emergency.

“He has a black truck. And he was in the brand new car, my mommy's car,” he goes on.
The dispatcher asks what happened next.

“And then he just... and he had to go to the car wash and then he went past the red light.”

“He did?” the dispatcher responds, and Robbie replies, “mm-hmm.”

At that point, the dispatcher asks Robbie if he can please speak to his dad.

Then Robbie's dad comes to the phone and apologizes, noting his son had made the call.

“He just wanted to let us know you ran a red light,” the dispatcher replies drily.

The dad laughs and responds, “Oh no, I apologize,” and makes it clear there is no emergency. He and the dispatcher share a laugh as the conversation ends.
