Smelly-Footed Man Arrested After Foul Odor Leads To Fight On Bus

Traveling in tight quarters - such as on a plane, train, or bus - can be a rather unpleasant experience at times. Jam-packed quarters can lead to some tight fuses, and those fuses can be set off by all sorts of things.

Whether it's random noises, passengers that don’t know their boundaries, an excess amount of luggage being somewhere that it shouldn’t be, or overtly exuberant behavior from a fellow passenger, there’s a ton of little things that can lead the powder keg to erupt in an instant.

Then there are the people that smell less than pleasant. Nothing can make a mood that’s already sour go further south like pungent aromas that simply can’t be wished away.

Whether we’re talking about general body odor, the results of a hard day’s work, a person that has a tortured relationship with personal hygiene, or the unpleasant aftereffects of a recent meal, foul smells can lead to some rather unfortunate incidents.

As the Daily Mail shares, one of those incidents recently took place on a passenger bus that was traveling from the Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh to New Delhi. A male traveler decided to kick back and relax.

That was all fine, well and good - until he took off his shoes and socks, that is. While that’s a bit unusual in and of itself, the fact that the bus quickly filled up with a horrid aroma caused quite a bit of angst for his fellow passengers.

The smell got to the point that the other passengers couldn’t take it anymore. They decided to confront the man, and they requested that he either put his stinky footwear away or throw it out.

The smelly traveler wasn’t having it. He refused, and a heated argument soon took place. It’s unclear if fists and feet started flying from that point, but things got so out of hand that the bus driver had no choice but to pull over at a police station in the Una district of Himachal Pradesh.

Police would find that the smelly-footed man was in the wrong, and he was promptly placed under arrest.

“He was arrested on charges of causing public nuisance and later released on bail,” noted Una police chief Sanjeev Gandhi.

Gandhi would also explain that the man had threatened other passengers on the bus, and that he caused quite a ruckus at the police station as well. As most fully functioning adults know, smelly and belligerent is no way to go through life.

It sounds like the man with the pungent feet has missed that life lesson up until now, but we can hope that he completely understands the concept as he moves along in his travels.

Our feelings of hope are tempered by the fact that the man with the smelly feet would file a counter-complaint against his fellow passengers, and the cops said that he was rather adamant that his shoes and socks didn’t smell.

Perhaps he’s hard of smelling in addition to being smelly and belligerent. Police noted that he left the area on another bus the following day. No word on whether he took off his shoes and socks on that trip.
