Sisters Who Were Missing Found In Unlikely Place

Samantha and Gianna Rucki are home after running away in the midst of a custody battle between their parents. Police found the 17 and 16-year-old at White Horse Ranch in Minnesota after they had been missing since they were 14 and 13.

According to Star Tribune, police believed that Sandra Grazzini-Rucki helped her daughters escape their father and didn’t want them to be found. Authorities said an underground network of family court critics helped to hide the sisters.

White House Ranch is a nonprofit that helps abused children heal by working with horses. Doug Dahlen, who owns White house Ranch with wife Gina Dahlen, said police told him he couldn’t comment on the case, Star Tribune reports.

"They would be the last people I would suspect of having any nefarious doings," said Kari Hagstrom, the Equestrian News managing editor who said she knows Gina Dahlen. "I imagine they were trying to help someone out and not cause more harm."

The girls did accuse their father of abuse, but a psychologist concluded that their mother had brainwashed them into saying so. The father, David Rucki, denies abusing his kids.

"I am in disbelief," Michelle MacDonald, Grazzini-Rucki attorney said. "I hope [the girls] are reunited with their mother and brothers and sister, and even their father."
