Sister Arrested for Exacting Kidnapping Revenge After Younger Brother's Death

On Sunday, Mercedes Salazar, 32, was arrested for the kidnapping of her brother's 25-year-old ex-girlfriend. The victim had allegedly been held captive for three days in a house on the 11000 block of Bluff Canyon, near Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. Salazar also had three accomplices, James Cerda, Teanna San Nicholas and Tristan Smith.

In addition, police believe that a "blood ritual" was performed on her. Salazar's brother, Angel, 28, was found murdered in August. Salazar believed that his ex-girlfriend had something to do with it. Investigators are still looking into whether or not his ex-girlfriend had something to do with his murder.

The victim was able to escape when one of Salazar's three alleged accomplices, Teanna San Nicolas, fell asleep while “guarding” the victim, as the others were out doing errands. The victim was then able to get to another room and call 911.

Bexar County Sheriff’s spokesman James Keith said, “At many points in the time period while she was there, they had zip-tied her to a chair and threatened to kill and harm her with scissors and a knife. Keith added, “We understand that people can be emotional whenever they lose somebody, but whenever you take it to this sort of level, not only is it criminal but it's also sick and scary.”

Angel Salazar's body was found on the night of August 18 inside a vacant home in the 4300 block of South Flores Street. Police later arrested George Quintanilla, 58, on kidnapping - but not murder - charges.
