Shop Owner’s Sign About ‘Certain’ People Goes Viral

A gas station owner in East Texas always wished he could do more for others, and a video inspired an idea. The business owner has started offering free sandwiches and water to those who are hungry but can't afford to buy food. He's been doing it for about three months now, and is very happy to be able to help his community. Who says there's no such thing as a free lunch?

Frank Hemani owns a Star Mart gas station near Emory, Texas. A few weeks ago, he began offering a free bottle of water and sandwich to needy people. He feels the small price he pays is nothing compared to the good his offer does.

"It's just a couple of bucks, but somebody will not go to sleep hungry. If you don't have money or a job, you can have a sandwich and a bottle of water for free," says Hemani.

Employees are proud of their work place with the compassionate policy. Andrea Wissman says "... [W]e have ham and cheese sandwiches and sometimes he throws some of our breakfast tacos in here, as a little different they can have a choice."

Hermani says he saw a video a couple of months ago featuring a business owner doing something similar. It inspired him to join the movement and spread a message of hope and good will.

"It's really nice to help the community out because, there's sometimes that maybe I went hungry. I don't think the kids in this country or anywhere in the world has to wait for Christmas to get a good stuff and I think they should get it whenever they deserve," Hermani said.

"We all go through hard times from time to time, so it's nice to have something good," added Wissman.

The gas station owner says it starts with a few sandwiches a week, and it can make a huge difference to those in need. He hopes his efforts will inspire others to do something similar. "I can do more positive stories out there, Because of me, if more and more people start doing it, I think it'll be one good thing for the whole world," said Hermani.
