Shocking Photos Show Truth Of Health Crisis In US

Our nation’s health insurance system is broken, and it has been that way for some time. Obamacare was supposed to have fixed all of that, but the reality is that it’s made it worse in a number of different areas. President Donald Trump made the repeal and replacement of Obamacare a priority of his presidential campaign. Six months into his administration, there remains nothing more than a bunch of yammering on both sides.

Republicans are in power in the House, Senate and Executive branches of the federal government. As such, it shouldn’t be all that difficult to get this accomplished. However, it remains remarkably out of reach. GOP leadership has yet to craft a solution that sits well with members of its own party. If they’re unable to pull off that trick, exactly how can they expect to have a prayer of making some headway with Democrats? They can’t.

It’s becoming quite clear that there’s not a one-size-fits-all solution for something as convoluted as health insurance. What works for one income level may not work for another, and the same can be said for different parts of the country. All the while, the problems continue to grow across the nation. As the Daily Mail shares, these stunning photos from a makeshift hospital in Virginia help drive that point home.

“As Republican officials continue to grumble over Obamacare, the reality on the ground is stark - people camping overnight to be first in line for free treatment at a pop-up outdoor medical center,” the Mail reports. “Hundreds of desperate patients, some in their 90s, traveled miles to be seen to by doctors who used animal stalls, articulated lorries and barns to carry out examinations and treatment. Pictures show rows of people lying in beds being treated by doctors walking on dirty tarmac.”

Brit Stan Brock founded Remote Area Medical, the charity behind the event, and the scene was nothing short of stunning for him.

“I just wish I could get President Trump to come and see this. The people here are Mr Trump's constituency, they're his voters, and it drives me up the wall,” he said. “This organisation was designed to parachute into the most God-awful places. I expected to see stuff like this in South Sudan and Haiti, but it's right here in the United States of America.”

The images are jarring - to say the least - as well as further confirmation that there are tremendous problems afoot that won’t be solved by one single piece of legislation. While leaders on both sides of the aisle trumpet out their canned talking points about how much they want to solve these problems, the reality is vastly different.

We can certainly point to health care entitlements as part of the problem, but the reality is that they’re so ingrained in our society at this point that there’s no removing them. That being said, a complete audit on the functionality of those programs is way overdue, as well as a lengthy investigation aimed at exposing each and every instance of entitlement fraud.

As for the bigger picture, solving the health insurance conundrum is an admirable goal, but it doesn’t amount to a hill of beans without examining the real problems. Costs are exorbitant every which way you look in the medical industry, but there’s one common denominator that continually comes out ahead. That would be the health insurance industry.

Perhaps a close examination of insurance lobbyists and their ties on Capitol Hill will help shed some light on exactly why that’s the case.
