She Walked Out On Him, Lover Makes Her Family Pay For It By Pouring Acid On Them

An Indian family of 4 were recently victims of a horrific acid attack after a rejected lover took vengeance on the entire family because the family’s unnamed eldest daughter broke up with him. The victims of the appalling attack were the only family members within the household at the time: Mangi Lal and his wife, Tulsi Lal along with 8-year-old daughter, Reena and a 4-year-old boy, Manoj. The culprit was Prakash Damor who had been searching for his former partner since she left him on August 24, 2016. It is believed that Damor went into the family home in Rajasthan state in search of Mangi and Tulsi’s eldest daughter and became enraged when he did not find her, taking revenge on the innocent, sleeping family members.

Mangi awoke to a burning sensation on his face and the screams of his wife and children. After a horrified relative in the village heard their crises of pain, the family were quickly taken to the local hospital. However, facilities were ill equipped to deal with acid attacks and the family were forced to travel a further 20 kilometers to a hospital in Bansawara, a Government facility. Tulsi, Reena and Manoj were lucky to escape life-threatening injuries as the acid had only touched their arms, parts of their face and scalps. However, Mangi had suffered extensive acid burns across his face, losing the vision in his right eye, saying: “I cannot explain how bad it was, how bad the pain was”.

The incident has thrown the lives of each family member into turmoil. Mangi is unable to work in his old job in the fields and Tulsi, Reena and Manoj are extensively scarred both physically and psychologically. Sadly, the confronting acid burn scars have ostracized the family within their village community with children shunning Reena and Manoj at school. Damor was later taken in by authorities and imprisoned after a village elder complained about the vicious attack. The family members are struggling to recover from the traumatizing incident, Mangi has applied for a Government loan and it is hoped that he will be able to start a grocery business and get his family back on track.
